Yom HaShoah
The Prayer of Man: 80 Years After Liberation
In the silence that followed the war, when the noise of battle had faded, a new voice rose—soft yet unyielding. It was a prayer—not of vengeance, but of hope. Born from unimaginable pain, it was a choice to live.
Eighty years later, we still hear that prayer.
This year, as we mark Holocaust Remembrance Day, we dedicate it to the 80th anniversary of Liberation and to the enduring spirit of Tefillat HaAdam — the Prayer of Man.
Liberation did not bring joy. It brought the unbearable truth: Families were gone. Communities erased. A world shattered. Survivors stood in the ruins and asked:
Is there still a Jewish people? Is there still humanity? Can life begin again?
And yet—from that devastation—a quiet, powerful response emerged:
A prayer for light in darkness.
A prayer for strength to rebuild.
A prayer for the courage to love again.
A prayer for new communities rooted in compassion and solidarity.
Today, that prayer still echoes—calling us to remember, to rebuild, and to take up the mantle of moral responsibility.
